We are at the deep end of the Anderson Valley, sometimes referred to as the Narrows. The vineyard sits on a southern exposed meadow, receiving sun from sunrise to sunset, with
rows set wide apart.
VINEYARD REPORT 2011 ANDERSON VALLEY PINOT NOIR
Small is beautiful. In a difficult year like this year has been for wine growing, we were grateful to only have three acres. Again, Dennis maintained most of the vineyard himself, with very little help. It helped the vineyard that he pruned late into the season and avoided shatter. He made the decicision to drop nearly half of the fruit in July and concentrate the energy to the remaining grapes. The vineyard produced
7 1/2 barrels, it produced 18 barrels last year.
We harvested the last of our grapes on October 22nd, our fiftieth wedding anniversary. We are very pleased with the quality of the fruit and expect this 2011 pinot noir vintage to be extremely fine.
